About Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic Dentistry is all about giving you the confidence to smile by improving the aesthetics of your teeth through various techniques and procedures like teeth whitening, fillings, veneers and crowns. At MDC our dental practitioners specialise in restoring and enhancing your smile using the latest technology and quality materials.
If you feel self-conscious about your smile or not able to eat comfortably with your teeth, jaw or mouth, like crooked, cracked, discoloured, decayed, missing and worn-out teeth, receding gums or misaligned jawlines, then cosmetic dentistry may be your solution.
Veneers
You might think veneers are only a way to improve the way your smile looks.
But veneers are so much more than that.
Veneers can:
- Restore the length of rough or worn teeth
- Protect teeth weakened by chips or cracks
- Correct discolouration
- Close gaps between teeth
We work with a trusted dental lab known for their skill in crafting beautiful and natural-looking veneers to create a uniform and beautiful smile.
At Melbourne Dental Clinic, we’re proud to offer the latest in modern, durable, and aesthetic dental veneers
Teeth Whitening
Your smile is the first thing people notice about you and a whiter smile definitely makes you feel more confident. Discoloured or yellow teeth can be caused by a variety of things.
The main culprits are food & drink such as tea, coffee, dark sodas, red wine, and even a few fruits and vegetables.
Discolouration occurs from tobacco, both smoking and chewing tobacco as well as poor dental hygiene, such as inadequate brushing or flossing.
Teeth whitening involves breaking down the discolouration of your teeth built up over time.
Each whitening treatment has a different level of effectiveness and largely depends on the cause of your discolouration. It is important to discuss your medical history with your dental professional as medications can contribute to the discolouration of your teeth.
3 Options at MDC:
Option 1: In Chair Whitening
At MDC we offer the Zoom 4 whitening system. Unlike older Zoom Teeth Whitening systems (e.g Zoom 3), the brand-new Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed (Zoom 4) is the only Zoom Teeth Whitening system with LED technology that has variable intensity to maximize patient comfort. This method offers immediate results. It takes approximately one hour, uses a protective shield and liquid protection for your gums and is accelerated with the use of the unique “Zoom” White speed blue LED Lamp. The main benefit of the in-chair whitening is the dentist’s ability to vary settings if you are experiencing sensitivity and the immediacy of results – significant change in colour is seen in a short period of time.
Option 2: Custom-made Home Whitening System
The at home kit is a more cost-effective option that provides visible results in around 7 days. It relies on repeated applications and uses a lower peroxide content due to safety precautions for home use. When considering this option, it is important to note that some stains are harder to remove because the take home kits are less effective with deeper stains. The Take Home Kits are probably optimal as a maintenance option after in chair whitening.
Option 3: WHITENING PACKAGE
A combination of the Zoom in-office teeth whitening procedure accompanied by the custom-made home whitening system.
